Horizon Wind

Shopify

A block-first Shopify Liquid theme and Figma-to-theme workflow, built on Gamma to make agency delivery more consistent and leave more time for bespoke merchant experiences.

Tailwind CSS + Shopify. Horizon Wind technology identity.

About the project

I built Horizon Wind to help Convert Digital deliver higher-quality, more consistent Shopify themes across brands, with less time spent on the standard parts of a build. It began after Shopify introduced theme blocks and before the Horizon theme was released, building on my earlier Gamma toolkit.

The starting point is a shared library of sections. We apply a merchant’s branding in Figma, then export it to update the sections and Shopify theme settings. That gives us a branded Shopify Plus starting point quickly, so our engineers can spend more time on what makes the merchant different and build the bespoke experiences their business needs.

Underneath, Horizon Wind uses a block-first Liquid architecture and Tailwind CSS v4 for styling. It retains Preact and web components for features that need more involved JavaScript, carrying forward Gamma’s approach to complex interactions.

Because the sections and theme foundations are consistent across projects, developers can move between client codebases and find familiar patterns. The shared code also gives us a common foundation for accessibility work and automated testing, with better documentation to support the client handover.

Since introducing Horizon Wind at Convert Digital, we’ve reduced the time spent on standard build work and seen launches and warranty periods with close to zero defects. That has helped us deliver implementations, migrations and rethemes faster, while giving the team more room to focus on each business’s unique needs.
