About the project
I built Gamma as a toolkit for creating custom Shopify Liquid themes at Convert Digital. The goal was to give our engineers a practical foundation for building rich storefront experiences while keeping the JavaScript footprint small.
Gamma used Preact and web components for features that needed complex interactions. A compiler turned that code into theme assets, letting us bring component-based development into Liquid storefronts without the weight of a full React application or relying on jQuery for those interactions.
The toolkit brought those patterns together with Tailwind CSS and Cypress as part of our theme-development process. It gave us a foundation to build on as the needs of our agency and merchants evolved.
Horizon Wind is its successor. It takes the approach further with a block-first Liquid architecture, Tailwind v4 and a connected Figma-to-theme workflow, while retaining Preact and web components for JavaScript-intensive features.
